Phillips Theological Seminary Student Wins 2022 Errett Prize

Kelly Tyrrell of Phillips Theological Seminary has been chosen the winner in the 2022 Isaac Errett Student Paper Competition with a paper titled: "Strange Bedfellows: Jim Jones and the Disciples of Christ." The competition is held in conjunction with the 2022 SCJ Conference that will be hosted by Johnson University in Knoxville, TN, on April 8-9.

Directing the Errett award for the first time this year is Lisa Barnett, Assistant Professor of American Religious History at Phillips Theological Seminary. Lisa was the winner of the 2012 Isaac Errett Award!

A prize of $250 was awarded to Kelly from the Disciples of Christ Historical Society who sponsors the annual competition. Kelly also will receive a one-year subscription to SCJ and free registration to the 2023 SCJ Conference. Best of all, the paper will be read at a special session of the conference.
