2023 SCJ Conference Student Paper Competition Finalists

Finalists for the SCJ Conference student paper competitions have been selected. They will present their papers during the Graduate and Undergraduate division slots during the conference. Each will receive a one-year SCJ membership. Winners of each division will $2500 scholarship to any one of ten participating graduate schools associated with the Stone-Campbell Movement, multiple books appropriate to their interests, plus possible publication in SCJ. The finalists are:

Undergraduate Division:

Graduate Division:

Kimberly Hampton (Lincoln Christian University), "The Response of Christians to 1918 Influenza and the Impact on the Church" (Sponsor: Steve Cone)

Anna Konstantopoulos (Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan University), "Origen: Platonism and the Preexistence of Souls in the Gospel of John" (Sponsor: Lee Blackburn)

Hanes McPherson Swingle (Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan University), "The Chosen: Judges 7:1-7" (Sponsor: Jason Bembry)

The undergraduate division had ten submissions, from students at Bushnell University, Central Christian College of the Bible, Great Lakes Christian College, Harding University, Johnson University (TN & FL), and Lincoln Christian University. The graduate division had five submissions, from students at Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan University, Lincoln Christian University, and Lipscomb University.
