Christians have traditionally believed that each person is endowed by God with a soul, an immaterial substance encompassing the essential person that survives death. Neuroscience, in its ever-expanding exploration of human consciousness, has found no evidence for such a unified substance. On the contrary, many leading neuroscientists have concluded that all mental activities are reducible to brain activities.
